CMA Advocacy Support: Health Impact Ohio, CMA Affiliate Supports CMA Advocacy

Long-time CMA affiliate Access HealthColumbus, DBA Health Impact Ohio is stepping into the role of supporting CMA Advocacy efforts, spearheaded by HIO President & CEO Carrie Baker.

In her time working for HIO and with CMA, Carrie has already been working with former CMA consultant Macolm Porter and the CMA Public Policy Committee and other affiliates on CMAs public policy agenda. Carrie has scheduled and attended CMA and affiliate meetings with members of the Franklin County Ohio Legislative Delegation to discuss areas on interest and importance to CMA members including various legislative bills before the Ohio General Assembly, HIO’s previous successful state budget request to create and fund a Community Health Worker Center for Excellence under the Ohio Department of Health, legislative capital requests for Physicians CareConnection’s new clinic space and recently, COTS federal advocacy. In addition, Carrie has and will continue to support efforts such as CMA member advocacy trainings, CMA e-newsletter articles and CMA’s Candidate Interviews, coordinated with the Ohio State Medical Association.

Carrie Baker has been working in and around health and healthcare policy, quality improvement and management in Columbus and across Ohio for over 20 years. In her various positions, Carrie has focused on advocacy and quality improvement, mainly in health and healthcare. Carrie has worked closely with the Ohio General Assembly and various Ohio Administrations, as well as officials in the federal government, on issues such as payment reform, hospital reimbursement, chronic disease management and child health priorities. Former employers include the Ohio Nurses Association, the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Children’s Hospital Association and as the President of her own consulting group. 

Since January of 2017, Carrie has served as President and CEO of the Health Impact Ohio (HIO). Health Impact Ohio believes in optimal health outcomes for all individuals in every community. HIO’s mission is to improve social drivers of health, health equity, access, and quality in all communities, through community engagement and partnership; multi-stakeholder training and coaching; data collection and integration; and strategy development and deployment.
