A Pipeline to the Future: The Youth Advisory Council Resumes This Fall
The Columbus Medical Association is creating a pipeline to the future with its two youth programs (Made for Medicine and The Youth Advisory Council), and the future is bright indeed!
This September the CMA Foundation will welcome the newest class of youth philanthropists to the Youth Advisory Council (YAC/Council). The 13-member council provides an important service to the community as a grantmaking body for issues deemed to be of the greatest concern to children and youth in the areas of health and wellness. The Council is made up exclusively of middle and high school students that range in age from 13-18 years old.
The YAC has granted more than $321,000 since 2001 to support community programs that address youth mental health needs, addiction/substance abuse disorder, reproductive health, bullying, self-esteem, equity and inclusion, and general basic needs.
Building students’ capacity to become tomorrow’s leaders while developing the next generation of philanthropists is a priority of the CMA Foundation. We are committed to providing a platform for youth to learn about and participate in healthcare issues facing the Central Ohio community.
If you are aware of a youth who is interested in joining the work of the Council, please visit cmafohio.org/yac, or call Paula at 614.745.0701 to get them connected.
