COTS Prepares for a Safe Return of Red White & Boom
As part of COTS' commitment to its mission to improve the health and safety of our communities, COTS facilitates the coordination of planning and response for large-scale events. One such event is Columbus' popular "Red, White, and Boom." However, due to the COVID pandemic, "Boom" has not occurred since 2019.
On May 26th, Jodi Keller, RN, COTS Associate Director of Healthcare Emergency Preparedness, brought together multi-disciplinary public and private partners to develop plans to ensure healthcare in Franklin County is mission-ready should the need arise during this year's "Red, White, and Boom."
"Planning together before an event makes our response stronger." Said Keller. "We try to think outside the box and plan for the worst-case scenario."
The last two years have brought about new challenges in no-notice, mass casualty situational awareness and response, and healthcare delivery. However, it also allowed COTS to grow and strengthen its emergency preparedness coalition. This Coalition includes hospital trauma, emergency services, emergency preparedness, safety/security leaders, EMS & fire, law enforcement, emergency management, public health, American Red Cross and other blood vendors, city and county governments, and more.
So, while enjoying this year's "Boom" events, please know that the COTS team and the healthcare coalition worked tirelessly pre and during the event, ensuring your safety.
COTS is an affiliate of the Columbus Medical Association and is dedicated to bringing physicians, healthcare professionals, and other experts together to improve the health and safety of our communities. Learn more about COTS by visiting cotshealth.org.
