CMA President’s Message: 2021 Progress Update for the Columbus Medical Association & Affiliates
2021 was another fascinating and challenging year for all organizations, but I am proud of the steadfast progress made by the Columbus Medical Association and its Affiliates.
Physicians Care Connection (PCC) was able to continue to provide valuable care for those in need. They worked on combining the efforts of government, community services, private companies, and universities to focus efforts on coordinating care for those most vulnerable.
Made for Medicine is a new venture aimed at introducing and exposing young African American children to the field of medicine with the hopes of possibly nurturing some future physicians. The first class graduated this past Fall with great excitement and enthusiasm.
The COTS grew and strengthened its network during the pandemic to make sure emergency preparedness and response were optimized so that everyone had excellent care when in crisis.
The Healthcare Collaborative of Greater Columbus (HCGC) leads in the education of Community Health Workers and collaborates various aspects of healthcare, social services, and housing. Their impact is of growing significance as the community struggles with pandemic-related challenges.
The Physicians Leadership Academy (PLA) graduated 20 physicians in 2021, providing those graduates with wellness and leadership skills. Vibes of wellness and caring, essentials of a physician, continue to percolate through the Columbus health care community from previous classes. The curriculum is constantly being evaluated and enhanced to make sure the present is fulfilling and the future is exciting.
I thank the entire physician and health care community. Every little effort to help another is felt and creates a ripple. The CMA will continue in its efforts to reorganize medicine and will strive to increase our efforts to promote physician wellness, diversity, inclusion, and improve healthcare for all.
I invite all physicians to join us in these efforts by getting involved and becoming a member of the CMA today.
