The CMA's Women in Medicine Community Starts the Year off Zen

The Columbus Medical Association’s Women in Medicine community started off the new year with some positive Zen thanks to a calming virtual yoga class led by PLA alum Dr. Bonnie Pugh*. Dr. Pugh covered basic yoga and breathing exercises during the hour-long lesson, which was followed by the attendees pouring some mimosas and sharing their ideas of inspiration for the new year.

This, of course, was just the first of many events this women physician focused group plans on hosting this year.

The Women in Medicine (WiM) community first formed over the summer of 2020 with the aim of bringing together women physicians to discuss their experiences in the medical field. Over the past 6 months the group has held many meetings and as a result, has an exciting list of monthly events planned for the first quarter of 2021 such as:

February 8th @ 7pm – Chocolate Tasting

March 8th @ 7pm – Book Group Discussion (WOLFPACK: How to Come Together, Unleash Our Power, and Change the Game

April (TBD) – Closet Cleaning and Stylist + Dress for Success

In addition to these currently virtual events, the WiM community is in the midst of developing a mentorship program where experienced women physicians will be paired with women physicians beginning their careers. This program hopes to foster guidance and friendship in what can be a challenging profession.
