PCC Makes a Small Move to Prepare for Big Growth
Last Thursday, January 23, 2020, the Physicians CareConnection office was buzzing as employees packed their desks and prepared to move to their new location within the Columbus Medical Association office building. This move is the first step in a major renovation for the right side of the Columbus Medical Association office building that will allow all the care coordinators and staff for the PCC to work on the same floor.
While the move is essentially only down the hall, it symbolizes the beginning of some big growth for the PCC. “Physicians CareConnection has had the privilege over the last few years to grow in its service to the vulnerable in the community. With that, comes a wonderful team that can only be successful if it works together,” said Audrey Barker, Operations Coordinator for the PCC.
The PCC, in addition to their Monday night free medical and dental clinic, coordinates care for vulnerable patients in Central Ohio around various health and social needs like transportation, education, housing and utilities, as well as food and nutrition. “The patients and clients that PCC serves at many times require services that help them overcome barriers to improving or managing their health. Having the care coordinators on the same floor improves access for the patients and clients by sharing resources, information, and knowledge in a timelier manner,” said Barker.
The construction will begin early to mid-February and is expected to take around three months to complete. In the meantime, there will be plenty of shuffling desks around but Barker is looking forward to the end result, “ The PCC is excited to have the team on one floor, as we can see the many opportunities that arrive by having the already great team working even closer together.”
